OAKLAND, Calif. - One week after shutting down Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers to move into playoff contention, the Buffalo Bills came up short against rookie Derek Carr and the lowly Oakland Raiders.Carr threw two touchdown passes, Sebastian Janikowski kicked four field goals, and the Raiders knocked the Bills from playoff contention with a 26-24 victory Sunday. The Bills (8-7) had gone four straight games without allowing a touchdown pass, including the past two weeks against Peyton Manning and Rodgers. But Carr broke that streak with a pair of scoring throws that gave the Raiders (3-12) their third straight home win.You see what that defence did to them, Carr said. The best quarterbacks, really to ever play this game, what that defence has done to them and its like, you turn the film on and you see what theyre doing and you know its going to be tough. It was early but Carr responded by throwing a 3-yard touchdown pass to James Jones in the second quarter and then sealed the win with a 1-yarder to Jamize Olawale with 2:51 to go.Carr went 17 of 34 passes for 214 yards but did not turn the ball over and was sacked just once. The Bills needed to win their final two games and get some help to end the NFLs longest active playoff drought at 14 seasons. But they failed at the easiest part — beating the lowly Raiders — and will miss the playoffs for a 15th straight year. When youve gone this long and youre right there with a chance, and you put it all on the line and you dont come through, it hurts, quarterback Kyle Orton said. Here are some other takeaways from the Raiders win over the Bills:SPLENDID SPOILERS: Oakland has the second-longest active post-season drought at 12 but has done a good job of playing spoiler in the past five weeks by beating Kansas City, San Francisco and Buffalo at home. This team has never really gotten down to the point where we were ready to give up, safety Charles Woodson said. Its always been an upbeat attitude with the guys on the team, and it shows out there each week.GROUNDED: The Bills hoped the return of C.J. Spiller would provide a spark to a struggling run game. But Spiller had minus-4 yards on four carries and the Bills ran for just 13 yards on 13 carries overall. That was their worst rushing performance since gaining 4 yards against Tennessee on Nov. 23, 1997.At the end of the day, they got after us up front and they kicked our butt up front, coach Doug Marrone said. When you do that, its difficult to run, pass, do a lot of things.CONTROLLING THE LINE: The Bills came into the game with one of the NFLs toughest defensive fronts, leading the league with 49 sacks. But Carr was sacked just once and Oakland had its second best running game of the season, gaining 140 yards on 36 carries. You turn around and rush it the way we rushed it and give up one sack to that front, thats all I heard about all week, Raiders interim coach Tony Sparano said. Thats not a mistake. Our guys played well up front.ORDINARY ORTON: After throwing a 42-yard touchdown pass to Sammy Watkins on the first drive of the game, Orton struggled once again. He threw an interception on the next drive and then the offence had five straight three and outs. Orton finished 32 for 49 for 329 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions.Ultimately, that falls on the quarterback, Orton said. Its my job to get everybody on the same page and make sure it looks good to score points. Certainly disappointed in myself.CLUTCH PASS: The key play of the game came in the fourth quarter after Buffalo cut Oaklands lead to 19-17. With the Raiders facing a third-and-22, Carr was flushed out of the pocket before connecting on a 51-yard pass to Andre Holmes. That set up Oaklands final touchdown that sealed the game.I was thinking about running but then I saw Andre 1-on-1, so I gave him a chance and he made my day by making that play, Carr said.___AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP_NFLDenzel Ward Jersey .J. -- Fabian Johnson scored his first international goal and Clint Dempsey doubled the lead after a defensive lapse as the United States beat Turkey 2-1 Sunday in the second of three World Cup warm-up matches for the Americans before they head to Brazil. The Mavericks lead the NBA with 110.5 points per game and the Warriors are not far behind at 106.8 ppg. Both squads have a field goal percentage of 48.2. Golden State comes into this matchup riding a franchise-best 14-game winning streak and will also make stops in New Orleans and Memphis. The Warriors are an impressive 11-1 on the road and have won eight in a row as the visitor. In a 105-93 victory versus the Houston Rockets on Wednesday, Klay Thompson scored 21 points and both Stephen Curry and Harrison Barnes added 20. Curry had seven rebounds and seven assists, and the Warriors shot 49.4 percent from the field and used a 32-17 scoring advantage in the fourth quarter to pull away. There were 14 lead changes and seven ties, and an 11-0 run by Golden State made it 100-89 down the stretch. It was the first time this season three players reached the 20-point mark for Golden State, which has the best record in the league at 19-2. The last six or seven minutes we had tremendous effort from everyone on the floor, Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. Kerr became the first coach in NBA history to begin his coaching career with at least 19 wins through 21 games. Warriors center Andrew Bogut missed the game due to knee tendinitis and is out indefinitely. Bogut needs two points to reach 6,000 for his career. Golden State has won 29 of the last 38 road games and is only the 16th team in NBA history to begin a season with at least 19 wins in the first 21 games. It has forced all of its opponents to shoot below .500 this season and is 14-0 when holding the opposition under 1100 points.dddddddddddd. The Warriors are allowing 95.6 points per game and havent lost since Nov. 11 versus San Antonio. Dallas has a 17-7 record and enters Saturdays game with wins in seven of the last nine games. The Mavericks handed the Pelicans a 112-107 defeat on Wednesday and were paced by four players with 20 or more points. Monta Ellis scored 13 of his 26 points in the fourth quarter and the trio of Dirk Nowitzki, Chandler Parsons and Devin Harris ended with 20 apiece. The Mavericks shot 53 percent for game, scored 65 points in the second half and erased a 51-47 deficit at the break. New Orleans led, 78-77, after three quarters, then Ellis and the Mavericks took over. Ellis did not miss a shot during his 13-point outburst that began with less than five minutes to go in the game. Coach put the ball in my hands and my teammates have confidence in me to make plays, said Ellis, who had 13 of Dallas final 15 points. I was looking to make plays and tonight I had it going in the fourth quarter. Dallas, which improved to 9-1 when shooting at least 50 percent, needs to work on rebounding and the Pelicans finished with a 45-29 advantage on the glass (16-5 in offensive boards). The Mavericks are 10-1 this season when Nowitzki scores at least 20 points. He is 114 points shy of passing Elvin Hayes (27,313) for eighth on the NBAs all- time scoring list. In injury news for Dallas, Parsons (back) and guard Jameer Nelson (shoulder) are listed as questionable versus the Warriors. Dallas and Golden State are playing the first of four meetings this season. The Warriors went 3-1 against the Mavericks a season ago, but Dallas is 10-3 in the previous 13 encounters in Big D. Ellis, a former Warrior, averaged 16.8 ppg against Golden State last season.
