Major League Baseball’s winter GM Meetings have wrapped up, leaving 30 general managers set to start their off-season renovations. TSN.ca looks at the day’s hottest rumours as free agent season gets off the ground. The Cream of the Crop Jon Lester is arguably the most coveted free agent pitcher in this years market and is already getting attention from a handful of teams including from the feel-good club of 2014. According to Jeffrey Flanagan of Fox Sports Kansas City, the Royals have had discussions with the agents for the left-handed starting pitcher with one representative of Lesters believed to have been in Kansas City on Wednesday night. Kansas City general manager Dayton Moore didnt give details to whether or not they were pursing Lester. The Boston Red Sox, Lesters former team, as well as the Chicago Cubs and Atlanta Braves are also believed to be interested. The 30-year-old Lester should garner top dollar along with fellow free-agent pitcher Max Scherzer. The three-time All-Star posted a 16-11 record with a 2.46 earned run average with Boston and Oakland last season. No More Torii Torii Hunter’s time with the Detroit Tigers looks to be coming to an end. Tigers general manager Dave Dombrowski told Jason Beck of MLB.com that they probably won’t re-sign the 39-year-old outfielder. Hunter is coming off a two-year, $26 million contract. He posted a thank you message to Tiger fans Friday night. Hunter hit .286 with 17 home runs and 83 RBIs in 142 games in 2014. Cruz Control The Seattle Mariners could really use some power in their lineup and free agent slugger Nelson Cruz, who led the league with 40 home runs in 2014, might be the perfect fit. According to Fox Sports John Paul Morosi, the Mariners could be interested in the veteran outfielder, but might have trouble signing him due to his 2013 suspension for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy. Seattle reportedly had a deal in place last winter, but backed out because of concerns relating to the suspension. Although Morosi, says when asked about their stance on the subject, a Mainers official said the team has no policy against signing players who have been suspended in the past for PED use. The source also noted that the Mariners have had discussions with Cruz and his agent. Seattle missed the postseason by just one game this season and could be in the thick of things again in 2015 if they can add a bat or two. Cheap Kansas City Chiefs Jerseys .
